I'll never go back to the 26" wheels. Once you ride with 29's you'll see haw much better all around they are. This bike is super smooth and solid. I'll be on it for years to come.
Compare this to the big three, Trek, Spec, Cann, and for the price they cant touch this build. THe bike is not too heavy as I thought it was going to be. It does really well on climbing, better than I expected. Components are not the lowest or worst but they are a bit above average and they perform very well. I've been really hard on the bike and it takes what I give it. I weigh 210 with no pack on and the bike is just solid and smooth. Tires are about the worst thing to the bike if I could find any, they really perform best in dry conditions, if wet you drift all over the place, but swapping them out is an easy fix. Pedals are probably the next weakness, going to upgrade to some platforms and it will be much improved. Color is matte silver with glossy black decals, looks really nice, the site picture doesn't do it justice. I would list this bike as an above average hardtail 29er. Yes you can find higher premium 29er hardtails but you will pay. For this price this bike beats any other build. DB is building some really good bikes again. This one is fun to ride and for my weight at 210 and my 5 11 stature I went with a large 20in frame build. I have to say i'm impressed. Beware of DB customer service though. They have some untrained people who know nothing about bikes taking calls, yes its true! IF you don't believe me give them a call and ask simple question regarding their bikes. They refer you to a LBS because they have employed incompetent people, it blow my mind. Buy the bike, you wont regret it.
This is a great 29er for the pricepoint that can be used as a casual trail bike or an urban assult rig. Decent component group, lightweight 6061 Weapons-Grade T6 aluminum frame, and rockin the Remote-lockout Suntour XCR forks. However, I just wanted to correct the description that this vendor is using. For the 2011 model year, all Overdrive Comps are using the Shimano Acera 3x8 drivetrain, with a SRAM 660 crank. The SRAM drivetrains are found on the std Overdrive and the Pro edition.
